The main monitor can display views from all external cameras including the various telescopes mounted on the top and bottom of the ship. Like any computer monitor pop-up windows containing any kind of information you call up or ship's systems status can be overlaid on the image.

   The Captain's station is empty presently and the station closest to the main monitor is helm control but until this ship is actually going somewhere all the helm officer does is monitor our orbital status.
